INFERNO INVOLVING PETROLEUM TANKER REPORTED OPPOSITE ODUPKANI SECRETARIAT NO DEATH REPORTED –police
Police in Cross River State Police Command has said is aware of a fire incident currently occurring opposite the Odukpani Local Government Secretariat, Odukpani, Cross River State, today, 4 October 2026.
Preliminary information available to the Command indicates ASP Sunday Eitokpha Akata said that a tanker truck conveying petroleum product was involved in a road traffic accident and overturned in the process, resulting in the fire which has spread to nearby shops and buildings.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has disclosed that towards the end of September and beginning of this month 2026, its troops have maintained kinetic operations across all operational threatres and neutralised several terrorists, arrested terrorist collaborators, and recording several surrenders nationwide.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ)says in the last three months this year, its troops across various threatres of operations have neutralised 554 terrorists, arrested 1,333 criminal suspects, and rescued 1,736 kidnapped victims, while 333 insurgents surrendered to troops.
Also, within the months, troops captured 244 arms and 8,160 rounds of ammunition, dismantled 104 illegal refining sites and recovered 1,610,402 litres of stolen petroleum products.

47 Reportedly Abducted While Harvesting Groundnuts In Niger State
At least no fewer than 47 people, mostly women, were reportedly abducted yesterday while they were harvesting groundnuts in Rimi village, around Kasuwan Garba in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to local sources, the victims had gone to the farm when armed men reportedly attacked and took them away. Families are still waiting for information about their loved ones.
