The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Zamfara State Chapter, under the leadership of its State Chairman, Kabiru Garba, hereby reaffirms its unwavering commitment to peaceful, free, fair, credible, and violence-free elections ahead of the 2027 General Elections in Nigeria.

This commitment aligns with the objectives of the Peace Accord Signing Ceremony organised by the Nigeria Police Force, Zamfara State Police Command, held today, 20 October 2026, at Taula Arena, Gusau, Zamfara State, under the theme: “Peaceful Elections Through Political Tolerance, Unity and Responsible Leadership.”

The ADC Zamfara State Chapter recognises that peaceful elections are fundamental to democratic governance, political stability, and sustainable development. We believe that political competition should be driven by ideas, policies, programmes, and a genuine commitment to serving the people, rather than violence, intimidation, hate speech, or personal attacks.

As a political party committed to democratic principles and the rule of law, the ADC assures the people of Zamfara State that it will continue to promote political tolerance, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and responsible political engagement throughout the electoral process.

OUR COMMITMENT TO PEACEFUL ELECTIONS

The ADC Zamfara State Chapter makes the following commitments:

1. Respect for the Rule of Law: We shall conduct our political activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, applicable electoral laws, and lawful directives issued by relevant authorities.

2. Political Tolerance: We shall respect other political parties, their candidates, supporters, and members, recognising that political differences must never become a source of hostility or violence.

3. Rejection of Electoral Violence: We strongly condemn political thuggery, voter intimidation, destruction of campaign materials, physical attacks, and every form of violence before, during, and after elections.

4. Responsible Campaigning: We shall encourage issue-based campaigns focused on security, education, agriculture, healthcare, employment, economic empowerment, and the overall welfare of the people of Zamfara State.

5. Respect for Electoral Institutions: We call on all political stakeholders to respect the lawful responsibilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and other relevant institutions.

6. Peaceful Resolution of Disputes: We encourage political parties, candidates, and their supporters to pursue grievances through lawful and established channels rather than resorting to self-help or actions capable of disrupting public peace.

7. Protection of Voters' Rights: We advocate an electoral environment in which every eligible voter can exercise their franchise freely, without fear, coercion, discrimination, or intimidation.

A CALL TO POLITICAL PARTIES AND STAKEHOLDERS

The ADC Zamfara State Chapter calls on all registered political parties, political leaders, candidates, youth groups, women leaders, traditional institutions, religious leaders, civil society organisations, the media, and security agencies to work collectively towards peaceful and credible elections in 2027.

We particularly urge political leaders to guide their supporters through responsible communication, discourage inflammatory statements, and demonstrate leadership that promotes unity rather than division.

We also call on security agencies to remain professional, impartial, and committed to protecting all citizens and political stakeholders without discrimination.

Furthermore, we encourage the media to promote factual reporting, responsible political discourse, and public enlightenment while avoiding the dissemination of unverified information capable of generating tension.

ZAMFARA FIRST: PEACE, SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT

For the ADC, the future of Zamfara State must remain our collective priority. Our political differences should not prevent us from working together to protect lives, promote peaceful coexistence, strengthen democratic institutions, and improve the living conditions of our people.

We believe that the 2027 General Elections should provide an opportunity for citizens to make informed choices based on the policies, competence, programmes, and commitments presented by political parties and candidates.

Our position remains clear: democracy must be defended through lawful participation, peaceful engagement, and respect for the people's mandate.

We commend the Nigeria Police Force, Zamfara State Police Command, for organising the Peace Accord Signing Ceremony and providing a platform for political stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to peace, political tolerance, and responsible leadership.

The ADC Zamfara State Chapter assures the people of Zamfara State that we remain committed to promoting peace, strengthening democratic participation, and contributing to an electoral process in which citizens can participate without fear.

As we prepare for the 2027 General Elections, let us remember that political offices are temporary, but the peace, unity, and security of Zamfara State are responsibilities we all share.

Let us compete through ideas, campaign responsibly, resolve disputes through the law, and protect the peace of our dear state.

ZAMFARA FIRST!

PEACEFUL ELECTIONS, RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP, AND A BETTER FUTURE FOR ALL.
