The Akwa Ibom State Universal Basic Education Board (AK-SUBEB) has announced the commencement of the recruitment of 1,000 qualified teachers to fill vacancies in public primary and junior secondary schools across the state.

The recruitment exercise, according to the Board, is part of ongoing efforts to improve the teacher-pupil ratio, strengthen learning outcomes, and support the Akwa Ibom State Government's commitment to delivering quality basic education under the ARISE Agenda.

In a statement signed by the Executive Chairman of AK-SUBEB, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk, Ph.D., the Board said the exercise would be conducted in a transparent and merit-based manner and is open exclusively to qualified indigenes of Akwa Ibom State.

Interested applicants are required to submit their applications online through the ARISE Youth Employment Portal.

The Board announced that the application portal will be open from Wednesday, July 1, 2026, to Friday, July 31, 2026, urging eligible candidates to complete their applications within the stipulated period.

Applicants must possess any of the following qualifications from recognized institutions: the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A. Ed), or Bachelor of Science in Education (B.Sc. Ed).

AK-SUBEB further disclosed that only candidates who are successfully shortlisted after the application process will be invited to participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT), which forms part of the selection process.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a fair and credible recruitment exercise aimed at attracting competent teachers who will contribute to improving the standard of basic education across Akwa Ibom State.
