Meanwhile following the protests at the early hours of Tuesday, on the development of the announcement of the results, the Plateau State Youth Council has call for calm among residents and supporters of the APC in Jos North North State Constituency following the controversy surrounding the emergence of the All Progressives Congress candidate after the party's primary election.

The Council urges all concerned stakeholders and constituents to allow due process to prevail in the interest of peace and stability in Plateau State.

The appeal follows protests by constituents in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, in the early hours of today, 14th July 2026, who expressed dissatisfaction over the party's decision to hand its ticket to a candidate, Abdulkadir Hassan, who reportedly placed fourth during the primary election, after the initial winner was disqualified.

A statement was signed by Bahal Nanpyal Mark Public Relations Officer Plateau State Youth Council, and Panan Gongden Dapar for Chairman, Plateau State Youth Council and issue to Press.

According to the results declared at the collation center,these are the votes scored by each Aspirant;

Adams Aliyu 13,066

Harry Ishaya Markus 1,904

Shehu Bala Usman 239

Abdulkadir Hassan 182

The declaration of Abdulkadir Hassan as the Candidate of the APC has generated tension within the constituency, prompting concerns over the need for transparency and fairness in the party's internal processes.

The Plateau State Youth Council recalls that before the conduct of the party primaries, it appealed to all political parties in the state to ensure fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to democratic principles in the selection of their candidates.

 That call was made to prevent avoidable disputes and instances like this, capable of undermining the fragile peace currently being enjoyed across the state.

The Council notes with satisfaction that its intervention, led by the Chairman, alongside other critical stakeholders, helped to de-escalate tensions, as protesters agreed to suspend their demonstration and reopened blocked roads. This responsible action underscores the commitment of the people to peace and dialogue, and it is important that such goodwill is not taken for granted by party stakeholders.

The Plateau State Youth Council therefore calls on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress under the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, and the Plateau State Chairman of the party, Hon. Rufus Bature, to ensure that justice, fairness, and equity prevail in resolving the matter.

 The Council believes that a transparent and credible resolution will not only strengthen confidence in the democratic process but also preserve peace and unity within Jos North- North Constituency and Plateau State at large.
