The Honorable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, has commended the contractor handling the construction of the newly approved Kebbi State Government-owned FM Radio Station in Yauri Local Government Area.
The Commissioner made this known while inspecting the ongoing project in Yauri alongside the Governor’s media aides.
He described the project as a significant step towards strengthening communication channels, improving information dissemination, and enhancing the effectiveness of the state’s information management system.
Alhaji Yakubu explained that the establishment of FM radio stations across the four Emirates of Kebbi State was recently approved by the Executive Governor, with the Yauri Emirate station becoming the first to be established.
“The Governor has promised to equip all media houses in the state as part of efforts to streamline information dissemination and promote sanity, transparency, and accountability in governance,” the Commissioner stated.
He further disclosed that upon completion of the Yauri FM Station, the contractor would move to the Argungu and Zuru Emirates respectively, in line with the administration’s plan to expand access to government information across the state.
According to him, the stations are expected to have wide coverage, reaching several Local Government Areas as well as neighbouring states. He noted that the initiative would particularly help bridge the communication gap between government and rural communities by bringing timely and reliable information closer to the people.
The Commissioner expressed optimism that the establishment of the stations would further strengthen the government’s communication strategy and deepen public engagement across Kebbi State.
