The Emir of Katagum, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Faruk II, has conferred the traditional title of ‘Mai Nasaran Katagum’ on a former Permanent Secretary of the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Abdulhameed Mohammed Jubrin.

The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated October 23, 2026, signed by the Makaman Katagum, Alhaji Ahmadu Lifdi, on behalf of the Emir.

According to the letter, the conferment of the title was in recognition of Jubrin’s exemplary character, dedication and contributions to the development of the Katagum Emirate and Bauchi State.

The letter stated that the Emir approved the appointment following a thorough assessment of his personality and commitment to the progress of the Emirate.

It further expressed the expectation that the new traditional title holder would uphold the dignity of the Emirate and serve as a worthy ambassador wherever he finds himself.

"We hope that you will honour this position and the Emirate, and serve as a worthy ambassador who upholds the dignity of this Emirate wherever you may find yourself," the letter stated.

The Emir, through the Katagum Emirate Council, also congratulated Jubrin on the recognition and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him the wisdom and grace to discharge the responsibilities associated with the title.

Jubrin previously served as Permanent Secretary of the Bauchi State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs before his redeployment to the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board, where he eventually retired from public service.

Furthermore, Jubrin previously served as Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission and the Ministry of Lands and Survey.

The conferment is seen as recognition of his years of service and contributions to public administration and the development of the Katagum Emirate.
