Retired Major General of the Nigerian Army and former Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, Major General Sarkin Yakin Bello (Rtd.), has commended the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for what he described as remarkable infrastructural transformation across the state, particularly the impressive facelift of Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
Speaking during an interview, Gen. Bello said the achievements of the Kauran Gwandu administration had significantly enhanced Kebbi State’s image, visibility and standing, while the transformation of Birnin Kebbi had given the state capital a new outlook.
According to him, “the respect Kebbi State is getting, and even the facelift Birnin Kebbi as a town is getting, and the state as a whole,” are among the notable achievements of Governor Idris’ administration.
The retired General also singled out the ongoing development of the Zuru–Koko Road as a major milestone. He recalled that the previously deplorable condition of the road had become so bad that he had personally vowed never to travel through the area by road again until the road was repaired.
He expressed satisfaction that Governor Idris had taken decisive action to address the longstanding challenge, describing the development as clear evidence of the Governor’s commitment to improving road infrastructure, connecting communities and opening up the state for greater economic activities.
Gen. Bello stressed that the Zuru–Koko Road is only one of several projects through which the administration is steadily transforming Kebbi State.
He further commended Governor Idris for the broad-based development taking place across the state, noting that his assessment was based on projects he had personally witnessed and his interactions with the Governor.
The retired General declared that the administration’s infrastructural achievements, alongside developments in other sectors, demonstrated that Governor Idris had performed exceptionally well and deserved another term in office.
“In all spheres of governance, Kaura has performed very well, and he deserves a second term,” he stated.
Gen. Bello therefore called on the people of Kebbi State, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to continue supporting Governor Idris so that his administration can consolidate the gains already recorded and deliver even more development to the people.
He expressed optimism that the Governor would continue to enjoy the support of the people and prayed to Almighty Allah to guide him in his service to Kebbi State and humanity.
In a strong declaration, Gen. Bello stated:“There is no alternative to Kaura.”
He urged the people of Kebbi State to remain patient, have faith in the democratic process and continue to support the development agenda of the Kauran Gwandu administration.
