The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has condoled with the family of the late Hon. Justice Umaru Atu Kalgo, JSC (Rtd.), CON, CFR, former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and former Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, over his death.

 

Governor Nasir Idris, who led a delegation of the Kebbi State Government to the deceased’s residence in Sokoto, described the death of the distinguished jurist as a great loss to Kebbi State, the legal profession, and Nigeria as a whole.

 

The late Justice Umaru Atu Kalgo passed away on Monday night, August 24, 2026, at the age of 89.

 

The Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

 

Governor Idris also joined the family in offering special prayers for the repose of the soul of the late respected jurist and elder statesman, whose contributions to the legal profession, judiciary, and national development remain significant.

 

The Governor prayed that Almighty Allah reward the deceased for his service to humanity and grant him eternal rest.
