The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has inspected the ongoing construction of a 250-unit housing estate in the state, expressing satisfaction with the quality and level of work achieved by the contractor.

The Governor, who spoke during the inspection, said the project had reached about 80 per cent completion and commended the contractor for executing the work in accordance with the approved specifications.

“Together with you, we have seen the level of work the contractor has done, and he is working according to specification. I want to seize this opportunity to thank the contractor for being alive to his responsibility by making sure that he works according to specification,” Governor Idris said.

He described the quality of work at the estate as solid and urged other contractors handling government projects to emulate the contractor by adhering strictly to specifications and maintaining high standards.

“We are happy with the level of work. This one, which is almost 80 per cent complete, is a very, very solid work. I want other contractors to emulate this contractor by making sure that they always work according to specification. The Kebbi State Government will never allow any contractor to do a shady job,” he warned.

Governor Idris assured that the estate would be completed within the stipulated timeframe, stressing that the state government was committed to providing decent and affordable housing for workers and other residents.

He disclosed that following the successful execution of the current project, the state government would consider engaging the same contractor for additional housing projects, particularly to provide accommodation for state and local government workers, teachers, federal workers and members of the media, among others.

“We want our workers, the state workers, the local government workers, the teachers, including federal workers and the press, to feel a sense of belonging,” the Governor said.

Governor Idris further disclosed that the state government had already acquired a Federal Government housing estate and completed payment, with all necessary documents secured, noting that arrangements were underway to award contracts for the completion of the housing units.

“Insha Allah, within the shortest possible time, we have already purchased the Federal Government housing estate. We have paid, and we have obtained all the necessary documents. Insha Allah, we will award the contract for the completion of those Federal Government housing units that the Kebbi State Government acquired through the Federal Mortgage arrangement,” he said.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress of the 250-unit estate and once again appreciated the contractor for demonstrating commitment, professionalism and adherence to specifications in the execution of the project.

He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to continue implementing people-oriented projects and policies that would improve the welfare and living conditions of the people of Kebbi State.
