Curious about the political airstrike in politics and it's augumentum in Cross River State concern citizen Comrade Ogar Emmanuel Oko queries about the development and shape way in Cross River

In a statement issued to media representatives in Calabar Comrade Ogar said ‘A fortnight ago, grapevine news, gossip, and idle conversations began filtering into public discourse about an alleged plan to demolish the palatial mansion of the former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State and the current Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba.’

The Analyst said ‘At first, the rumour appeared fictional, clothed in the garb of a Fabian strategy—a war of attrition designed to weaken an opponent through sustained pressure rather than direct confrontation.’

However, the rumour grew a frontal tooth and seemed ready to bite. Within the last twenty-four hours, it has gathered momentum, finding its way into local tabloids and spreading rapidly across electronic media platforms. Unsurprisingly, the public has received the reports with mixed reactions.

Comrade Ogar Emmanuel Oko furthermore maintain The grand house in question is reportedly the only residential property owned by Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba in Calabar, the state capital. Admittedly, the property is located within the Water Board area and is alleged to have been built on a water conduit. Assuming that allegation is true, several questions naturally arise.

He queries Who sold the land? Who approved the building plan? How many houses have been marked for demolition? What becomes of the Deputy Governor's residence? What about the house belonging to Dr. Betta Edu? Should the list continue? Prof. Zana Akpagu has a house in the area. Oden Ewa, the APC candidate for the Central Senatorial District in 2023, is reportedly building there. Ntufam Edim Inok also has a house there.

Again, the question remains: Why was the house not marked for demolition during the 2023 electioneering period? Why was it not considered a violation when Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba served as APC State Chairman? Why has the issue emerged now that he belongs to a different political party? Is this action politically motivated?

If all other structures within the same area are not subjected to the same scrutiny and treatment, then the masses require no further explanation to conclude that this amounts to a brazen and flagrant political witch-hunt.

I have closely followed political developments since the return of democratic governance in 1999. I know when power is being exercised. I know when political calculations are at play. I know when justice is selectively dispensed.

Selective justice is the unequal or inconsistent application of laws, regulations, or punishment. It occurs when similar offences are treated differently based on considerations unrelated to the offence itself, such as political affiliation, social status, wealth, influence, ethnicity, or personal relationships.

On February 11, 2023, during the general election season, I defected from the APC to the PDP. Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba did everything within his power to discourage my defection. He urged me repeatedly to remain in the APC, but I declined his overtures and proceeded with my decision.

Yet, despite my departure, he continued to persuade me to support the then APC governorship candidate, Senator Prince Bassey Otu. On the eve of the election, the last call I received before going to bed came from Barr. Alphonsus. On election day, the first call I received—at about 4:15 a.m.—was also from him. He passionately appealed to me to join forces with others in delivering victory for his candidate.

When the elections were concluded, we delivered victories for the PDP across the board. However, in the governorship election, we cast our votes for Prince Bassey Otu. The results remain on record.

The lesson is simple: mortals often stumble today because they cannot fathom what tomorrow holds.
