The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, has rated the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, as one of the best-performing governors in Nigeria.
The Minister stated this on Wednesday when the Governor’s media aides, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, paid him a courtesy visit at his office.
Alhaji Malagi commended Governor Nasir Idris for his remarkable achievements across various sectors of governance, noting that the Governor has transformed the state capital and significantly improved infrastructure and development across Kebbi State.
The Minister recalled his visit to Kebbi State last year, saying he had the opportunity to witness some of the developmental projects executed by the administration.
“I was in Kebbi State last year and know exactly what the Governor has done. Even the newly constructed Civil Servants’ Secretariat shows that he is a true Comrade,” he said.
He expressed appreciation for the Governor’s achievements in various sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment.
The Minister also commended the Governor’s media aides for the courtesy visit and for presenting a comprehensive scorecard of the administration’s achievements.
He noted that the Kebbi State media team was the first of its kind to visit him and provide a detailed account of the accomplishments of their principal.
Alhaji Malagi further highlighted the contributions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to the development of Kebbi State. He mentioned major projects, including the Lagos–Badagry Superhighway and the construction of houses for internally displaced persons through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), among others.
According to him, Kebbi State has the highest number of kilometres benefiting from the Lagos–Badagry Superhighway project, noting that the completion of the road will significantly boost the socio-economic development of the state and Nigeria at large.
He added that Kebbi State possesses enormous economic potential, particularly in agriculture, which, if fully harnessed, could contribute significantly to feeding the nation.
Earlier, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the purpose of the visit was to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts towards making Kebbi State a beneficiary of meaningful federal projects with direct impact on the people.
He specifically commended the Federal Government for the Lagos–Badagry Superhighway project, noting that Kebbi State stands to benefit substantially from the initiative.
The Commissioner explained that the completion of the road would improve the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), facilitate trade and transportation, and further stimulate socio-economic activities across the state.
Highlighting the achievements of Governor Nasir Idris, Alhaji Yakubu said the administration had recorded significant progress in road construction, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment.
“Let me highlight the Governor’s achievements because we have a story to tell. The Governor has constructed roads, built more hospitals and primary healthcare centres, provided free fertilisers to farmers, empowered youths and implemented several other people-oriented programmes,” he said.
