The Kebbi State Aspirants Forum has declared its full support for the second-term bid of Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu.

The forum comprises APC aspirants who were unsuccessful in various elective positions during the recently concluded party primary elections.

The Chairman of the forum, Dr Abdul’Aziz Wazata, made the declaration during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

Wazata commended the governor for creating an opportunity for the aspirants to air their grievances.

“From my findings, this is the first time in the history of Kebbi State that a governor has invited those who lost in the primaries and engaged them directly.

“This reflects a unique style of leadership, where you sit with us to understand the challenges facing the current political movement in the state,” he said.

He assured the governor of the forum’s 100 per cent support for his re-election bid and expressed the members’ readiness to serve on his campaign council.

Also speaking, former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sama’ila Abdulmumin Kamba, noted that every contest produces only one winner.

He said the aspirants had unanimously resolved to support Governor Idris in his quest for a second term.

The Governor’s Adviser on Political Matters and Power, Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant, said anyone seeking elective office must enjoy grassroots support.

Commenting on the governor’s generosity, he said:

“Many people say the governor is generous, but those around him collect and pocket the gesture.”

In their separate remarks, Prof. Dalladi Mahuta, Garba Manuga Birnin-Tudu and Shehu Natsaye told the governor that some of his appointees were not doing enough to mobilise political support for his administration.

They also observed that those serving under Kauran Gwandu had remained loyal, noting that none of the commissioners or special advisers resigned to contest elective positions.

Responding, Governor Nasir Idris said he convened the meeting to hear directly from the aspirants over concerns being raised in political circles.

“I invited you to hear directly from you about some complaints making the rounds. I want firsthand information so that we can understand each other,” he said.

The governor urged the aspirants to speak frankly, adding:

“I am happy you have spoken your minds.”

He also said his administration had broadened participation in governance, recalling that his predecessor appointed only nine commissioners.

“In contrast, the present administration has 27 commissioners,” he said.

Speaking on the 2027 presidential election, Governor Idris urged Kebbi residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, saying the current administration had initiated several federal infrastructure projects in the state.

According to him, these include the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, the Koko–Besse–Dabai–Zuru Road, the Malando–Wara Road, and other federal government projects.
