“Kebbi State Government stands in full solidarity with the Niger State Government during this difficult moment of mourning and collective bereavement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families who have lost beloved breadwinners, fathers, brothers and sons in this unfortunate tragedy.”
The Governor prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the departed souls, grant them Aljannatul Firdaus and give their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss with patience and divine comfort.
Governor Idris said the incident underscores the urgent need to strengthen the regulation of artisanal mining, enforce safety standards and protect the lives of citizens engaged in mining activities across the country.
“Kebbi State Government pledges continued collaboration with the Niger State Government in promoting safer mining practices, public awareness and sustainable alternative livelihood opportunities for vulnerable youths across our shared border communities,” he said.
The Governor also directed relevant authorities in Kebbi State to observe a moment of reflection and offer special prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the mining disaster.
He assured the Niger State Government of Kebbi State’s unwavering support and brotherhood during and beyond this difficult period, describing both states as partners committed to regional peace, development and shared prosperity.
The Kebbi State Government, through the Ministry of Information, will formally communicate its condolence message and dispatch a delegation to Minna to commiserate with the Niger State Government.
