The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Abubakar Bala Matawalle, a two-term Councillor and former Vice Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Abuja, stated this in an interview in Abuja, where he spoke on the activities of the association and its assessment of the Governor’s performance.
Matawalle said the association was established to promote unity, progress and the collective interests of Kebbi people residing in Abuja, adding that the achievements recorded by Governor Nasir Idris had provided compelling reasons for members to come together in support of his administration.
“Looking at how Governor Nasir Idris is delivering the dividends of democracy and providing good leadership, we deem it fit as an association of Kebbi residents in Abuja to highlight the good things about Kauran Gwandu and declare our support for his re-election in 2027,” he said.
According to him, the Governor’s commitment to the welfare and development of the people has distinguished his administration, stressing that the association considers it important to identify with leadership that genuinely places the interests of the people above all else.
“If you look at it, since the creation of Kebbi State, we have never had a governor who has the people of Kebbi in his heart and has such genuine concern for their welfare,” Matawalle said.
He explained that the association recently commenced a tour aimed at engaging Kebbi people and other stakeholders to identify areas where members could contribute to the development of the state.
According to him, the initiative has revealed the growing interest of Kebbi indigenes and residents in Abuja in the affairs and development of the state.
Matawalle said the positive feedback received during the tour had further strengthened the association’s conviction that Governor Idris deserves the support of the people to enable him consolidate and sustain the development achievements of his administration.
He added that the association was prepared to mobilise its members and other Kebbi residents in Abuja to support initiatives that would promote the continued development, unity and progress of Kebbi State.
The Chairman therefore urged the people of Kebbi State, irrespective of political affiliations or other differences, to support good governance and leaders who demonstrate genuine commitment to the welfare and development of the people.
He described Governor Nasir Idris as a leader who has demonstrated genuine concern for the people through his development initiatives and people-centred policies, expressing confidence that continued support for his administration would enable him to achieve even more for the state.
