A servant leadership has been described as it's involved the willingness to set examples and make decisions without needing to be the loudest or oldest person,a Leader must Lead himself as a true servant.

A servant is define as someone who prioritizes the needs and well-being of others above their own, true servanthood requires strength, humility, discipline and ability to sacrifice personal comfort for a greater cause.

Disclosing this by Haroun Harry Audu, Trustee/Executive Director Sentinel Oasis For Love and Care Initiative (SOLCI) at the Cohorts 1and 2 Sentinels Reunion event at the Plateau State Hight Court Conference Hall Jos over the weekend.

"We often speak about leadership as though it begins when we are given a position. It does not. Leadership begins when nobody is watching. Before you lead a community, you must learn to lead your appetites. Before you ask people to trust you, you must become trustworthy. Before you demand accountability from others, you must become accountable yourself."he disclosed.

According to him a servant leader who cannot manage his time cannot credibly speak about community development. A servant leader who cannot keep his word cannot build trust. A servant leader who blames everyone else for his failures is not ready to carry responsibility.

" A servant leader who is courageous in public but dishonest in private has not understood servant leadership. And a young leader who expects the government, NGOs, churches or mosques, elders and somebody else to solve every problem around him has missed the first lesson of leadership:"he noted.

He said leadership is not just to gain followers, but to empower those around you to become better, adding that the role Sentinels is expected that participants referred to a Sentinels rather than mere participants in this movement.

While emphasizing that, Sentinel is described as a responsibility and a posture of being awake to community needs rather than simply complaining about problems, adding that a Sentinel responds by asking what they can contributed and stands the gap to serve.

Mr.Audu further explained that the soul aims is to unite young people through faith, integrity, and service to foster social change, adding that the movement has seen successful initiative like the Sentinels from the University World Health which has engaged over 406 Sentinels.

The Executive Director disclosed that the previous programs include the community clean up challenge, and training for 51 emerging leaders from 10 wards in Jos North.

In her good will message Ms Hannah Musa Leader Traner Abuja said the real service occurs when individuals act even when nobody is watching or providing recognition, and challenge the participants to consider if they would still serve,if there is no one to there to say thank you or witness their work.

According to her, true change happens when people move past being inspired by programs and start talking ownership of their environment, adding that awareness is the first step requiring an individual to actually observe and acknowledge existing community needs.

"Awareness where an individual realizes they possess unique skills, voices ,or time that can make a difference.Commitment means deciding to take action despite resistance or lack of immediate results and consistent is a essential because lasting change only occurs when an individual keeps showing up over time." She disclosed.

She emphasized that leadership is defined by character and how one treats people when no one is watching, adding that true servant leadership requires living a life that gives meaning to wards rather than just studying theory.

While challenging the participants to move from being mere observer's of problems to become active leaders who seek solutions., saying that the five core principles to carry forward purpose, excellence, dignity, values, and access which involves understanding why I want to lead serve and make a difference in their community.

Also the Chairman and CEO TADS Kitchen Jos,

charged them to stand out from the crowd not because they are trying to be better than everyone else, but because they have decided not to be content with simply being another person in the crowd.

Also urged them that, where they see needs in their community, they should speak, act, get involved, charity may begin at home, but service cannot end at their doorstep.

'If you have been equipped to see a need, then you have also been given a responsibility to respond to it.Start where you are.Use what is in your hands.and

remember that you do not have to do everything alone."she urged

According to her they may not be able to change the whole community, but perhaps you can change one street,

you can help one young person,

you can solve one problem, you can organise five people around an idea and

Perhaps you can simply be the person who refuses to say, "That is not my business."

She also charge them to always figured out before they start contributing, and learn as the go and are allowed to make mistakes, and urged them to be the person who can be trusted, the person who shows up, the person who keeps their word, and the person who does excellent work even when nobody is watching.

"Be the person who serves without losing their dignity,be the person who knows what they stand for and the the person who is intentional about who they are becoming."
