Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring lasting peace, security, economic stability and sustainable development across the state.

Speaking during his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) message delivered at the Government House in Gusau, the governor assured residents that his government remains focused on fulfilling the promises made to the people since assuming office.

Governor Lawal recalled that his administration was built around a six-point rescue agenda aimed at addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing Zamfara State. According to him, the agenda focuses on security, agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure and economic empowerment.

The governor noted that his administration has remained committed to implementing policies and programmes that directly improve the lives of citizens, stressing that significant progress has already been recorded across several sectors.

Speaking on security, Governor Lawal expressed satisfaction with the ongoing efforts to restore peace in communities previously affected by banditry and criminal activities. He said the improved security situation has enabled many internally displaced persons to return to their ancestral communities and resume normal life.

According to him, the return of displaced residents demonstrates that government interventions and collaboration with security agencies are beginning to yield positive results.

"We remain committed to ensuring that every citizen can live, work and pursue their livelihoods without fear. Security remains one of the top priorities of this administration," he stated.

Governor Lawal also highlighted the operational commencement of the Zamfara State Airport, describing it as a major milestone in the state's development journey. He recalled that the airport project was one of the promises made to the people and expressed satisfaction that it is now serving its intended purpose.

He further noted that the airport recently facilitated the successful airlift of intending pilgrims from Zamfara State to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

According to the governor, this marked the first time pilgrims from the state were transported directly from the state-owned airport, a development he described as historic and beneficial to residents.

In the area of public utilities, Governor Lawal reiterated his commitment to providing access to clean and portable water across the state. He disclosed that equipment required for the rehabilitation and modernization of the Zamfara State Water Board has already been secured.

He explained that work on the project is expected to commence immediately after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, with the objective of improving water supply to households and communities across the state.

The governor thanked residents for their continued support and cooperation and urged them to remain peaceful and law-abiding during the festive period.

"As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, I encourage all residents to uphold the values of sacrifice, unity, peace and mutual respect. Together, we can continue to build a safer, stronger and more prosperous Zamfara State," he said.

Governor Lawal also prayed for peace, progress and economic prosperity for Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.
