The Igbo Delegates Assembly of 19 Northern States and FCT (IDA) has described the appointment of Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto, as Director General of the Presidential Campaign of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a wise and inclusive decision.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation during a visit in Kaduna HRH Igwe Dr. Boniface Ibekwe, the Eze Igbo of Kano, said Senator Yari’s record of inclusiveness across religion, ethnicity, and politics makes him the right choice for the strategic national assignment.
According to the leader of the group, IDA has over 15 million members across the 19 Northern States who are fully mobilized to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, with the appointment of Senator Yari as Campaign DG.
The President General of IDA of Zamfara state Chief Emmanuel, who also spoke during the visit, testified that Senator Yari accommodated everyone irrespective of religion, political affiliation or ethnic background.
He noted that Igbos in particular and Christians in Zamfara State in general have been enjoying the Senator’s gesture during festivities just as their Muslim counterparts when celebrating Maulud and Sallah periods, adding that this made him “an exceptional leader in the whole region.”
The delegation said they cut short their ongoing 4-day Northern Conference of the 19 State Chapters to come and deliver their clear message of appreciation to President Tinubu for making what they called “a unifying and strategic decision.”
The delegation concluded that with Senator Yari at the helm of the campaign, the APC is assured of massive support and victory across Northern Nigeria.
The visit was held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the residence of Alhaji Sani Gomna Mayanchi, a close associate of Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar in Kaduna.
In his response, Alhaji Sani Gomna Mayanchi, former APC Zonal Vice Chairman, alongside Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad Danmadamin Birnin Magaji, former Commissioner for Information and APC Publicity Secretary in Zamfara State, appreciated the delegation and assured that their warmest wishes would be delivered to Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto.

President Generals of IDA from Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Niger, Gombe, Bauchi, Borno, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kogi, Nasarawa States and the FCT, Abuja.
