The Chief of Wasagu, Alhaji Mukhtar Muhammad Musa, has commended the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for giving traditional rulers a genuine sense of belonging in the affairs of the state.

The monarch made the commendation on Friday when the Governor’s Media Team, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace.

According to the Chief, traditional institutions in Kebbi State have never enjoyed the level of recognition and support they currently receive under the administration of Governor Nasir Idris.

He highlighted some of the administration’s achievements in strengthening traditional institutions, noting that the governor had provided first-class and second-class traditional rulers with brand-new official vehicles, renovated the palaces of emirs, chiefs, and district heads, and distributed motorcycles to village heads to enhance their official responsibilities.

The traditional ruler further stated that Governor Idris had integrated traditional rulers into governance by appointing them to key government committees, including the State Hajj Committee and other strategic bodies, thereby recognising their vital role in promoting peace and development.

Speaking on security, the Chief commended the governor’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property through sustained support for security agencies across the state.

“He has provided security agencies with Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), operational vehicles, motorcycles, ammunition, and other logistics. He also renovated the Nigerian Army Barracks in Zuru, among several other interventions aimed at strengthening security,” he said.

The Chief observed that Kebbi State remains relatively peaceful, explaining that most security incidents are linked to criminal elements infiltrating the state from neighbouring Zamfara and Niger States due to their shared borders with Kebbi.

“Everyone knows that insecurity is a global challenge. Governor Nasir Idris has, however, demonstrated exceptional commitment by implementing practical measures that have significantly improved the security situation in the state,” he added.

He urged the people of Kebbi State to continue supporting the present administration, describing it as a government that has fulfilled the overwhelming majority of its campaign promises.

The monarch also cited the renovation of schools across the state and the ongoing construction of the Dabai–Koko Road, which is nearing completion, as clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to infrastructure and human capital development.

Responding, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the visit formed part of the government’s statewide media engagement and sensitization campaign aimed at showcasing the achievements of Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.

He explained that the team was also seeking the support and blessings of traditional rulers in disseminating factual information about the government’s programmes and achievements to the people.

“We are here to engage with our traditional rulers and to enlighten the public on the numerous developmental projects executed by Governor Nasir Idris across the Zuru Emirate and other parts of the state, particularly in the areas of road infrastructure, security, education, and rural development,” the Commissioner stated.
