Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, has approved the reappointment of Alhaji Mai Aliyu as the Acting Executive Chairman of the Yobe State Pilgrims Commission. The appointment takes effect from October 7, 2026, pending confirmation by the Yobe State House of Assembly.
The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the duly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the state’s 17 Local Government Areas, formally bringing the 2026 local government electoral process to a successful conclusion. The presentation ceremony was held on Tuesday the 29th of September 2026 at the Conference Hall of the YSIEC in Damaturu.
The Yobe State Government has paid over ₦6 billion in pension and gratuity to 4,271 local government retirees and beneficiaries, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mohammed Goje, has disclosed.
